Remember When We Used To Be Friends

from Surreal Killers (Album) by Daniel Eischeid

/

about

The opening riff of this song was originally sent to me by band-mate and friend Ryan Costello as a song idea. I wrote lyrics on top of it, and added a chorus guitar and vocal part for it, and turned it into a full song. This has always been one of my personal favorites, and it was never properly recorded until now.

lyrics

It's all so clear, yet I'm confused
It's in the air, it's on the news
All that I want, all I could choose
Could not compare to thoughts of you
When we were friends
It never ends

Your memories, they penetrate
They're keeping me from sleeping though I'm half-awake
Believe you me, on my dying day
I will still remember how we used to play
All day

I'm always here, my mind's astray
My thoughts are clear, I can't complain
I pretend you're near, to fool my brain
Your memory's all that remains
Of when we were friends
It never ends

So vividly, your words remain
And keep me from believing that you've gone away
My thoughts exposed, put on display
Are keeping me from breathing
Now I can't escape

Believe you me: On my dying day
I will still remember how we used to play
Play, hey

Whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa

Woo ooh ooh
Woo ooh ooh
Woo ooh ooh

about

Daniel Eischeid Edmond, Oklahoma

Nirvana, Weezer, Ozma influenced, melodic, power pop-rock music. Strong melodies, hooks, and good harmony-driven rock. My personal acoustic demos I record on the spot, to give to my band (Starry Skies) to work up drum and bass and guitar tracks for. Some make it to our band's lineup, some don't. They sound very different when finished. Now, full band (solo) demos as well! Please enjoy. ... more
